Lead Product Manager — Marketplace GrowthDecember 2024 – PresentCompany tenure · Current focus: Marketplace Customer Experience

Connect the whole journey.

Lead product vision, strategy and execution for Marketplace Customer Experience, spanning the complete journey from traffic and discovery to fulfilment, support and repeat purchase.

Marketplaces / Growth / Customer experience

Strategy, customer experience & product ownership

  • End-to-end marketplace strategy. Own the customer growth journey across traffic, navigation, discovery, consideration, basket growth, fulfilment, post-order support, returns and repeat purchase.
  • Shared foundations, category-specific propositions. Developed a layered strategy across Home, Electricals, Beauty, Clothing and Pet, combining reusable customer-experience capabilities with Tesco differentiators including Clubcard, personalisation and the store network.
  • Investment and prioritisation. Balance customer needs, seller capabilities, operational constraints and commercial priorities to determine where to invest, which problems to address first and how to measure success.
  • An outcome-led roadmap. Translate customer research, behavioural analytics, funnel performance and commercial insight into a prioritised backlog focused on findability, product confidence, conversion, basket value and retention.
  • Full product lifecycle. Lead initiatives from problem identification, hypothesis development and discovery through design, experimentation, engineering delivery, rollout, measurement and iteration.

Product portfolio & commercial impact

  • Discovery and basket growth. Own initiatives spanning mission-led storefronts, navigation, richer seller content, personalised recommendations, Recently Viewed, reorder experiences, Clubcard interventions and foundations for product comparison.
  • Post-purchase trust. Lead capabilities for delivery and fulfilment visibility, seller contact, post-order communications and improved returns journeys, connecting the experience after purchase with the rest of the marketplace.
  • Marketplace scale. Tesco Marketplace grew from £2M to £45M GMV in its first year. The customer-experience portfolio spans launches and experiments across the marketplace funnel.
  • Conversion improvement. Customer-journey analysis and structured experimentation across discovery, product-detail and basket experiences increased the reported Marketplace conversion measure from 14.0% to 16.1%.
  • Measured revenue. Recently Viewed generated £2.1M in measured revenue. Basket, reorder and Clubcard experiments delivered more than £788K in additional incremental revenue.

Team leadership & ways of working

  • A five-engineer squad. Lead the squad and partner with Design, Data, Optimisation, CRM, Operations, Seller and category teams to align customer outcomes, commercial value, technical dependencies and delivery priorities.
  • Discovery alongside delivery. Operate a dual-track model supported by rolling 30-, 60- and 90-day roadmaps, enabling continuous customer discovery alongside structured engineering execution.
  • Senior stakeholder alignment. Communicate product vision, priorities, performance and trade-offs, building alignment around measurable outcomes rather than feature delivery alone.
  • Long-term capability building. Focus on reusable marketplace capabilities that scale across categories, support different customer missions and create foundations for sustainable growth.

Make complexity work.

Built insurance and claims analytics products for the European freight partner network, alongside growth work spanning recommendations, experimentation, loyalty and retention.

0 → 1 / Operations / Personalisation / Analytics

Freight partner insurance & claims intelligence

  • 0-to-1 programme ownership. Owned the AAIP insurance programme and claims analytics platform for a 1,300+ truck freight partner network across seven EU markets, from vendor negotiation and regulatory compliance through launch.
  • £1.2M year-one insurance savings. Replaced legacy brokers with a purpose-built product integrating compliance, claims processing, finance reconciliation and legal workflows. Defined the strategy that made direct insurer relationships commercially viable, reducing per-truck insurance cost by 38% ($8,500 to $5,300). Year-two savings were projected at £3M.
  • NLP-powered FNOL claims dashboard. Built real-time mobile incident reporting and NLP-powered claims categorisation, turning incidents into operational signals. Annual claims fell from 300 to 75; in Germany, claims fell from 35 to seven in one month after a hotspot was identified. Adoption increased 27%, with a 55% CSAT improvement.

Growth, recommendations & lifecycle products

  • EMEA ecommerce growth. Led growth for a $23M-per-month ecommerce business, working across personalisation, experimentation, conversion, loyalty and merchant journeys.
  • Recommendation engine. Led work on a hybrid collaborative-filtering model delivering a 22% customer lifetime value uplift, £3.2M in incremental revenue, a £43 increase in average order value and an 18% conversion uplift.
  • Experimentation and model evaluation. Ran 40+ concurrent A/B tests and defined model evaluation metrics and success criteria before launch.
  • Loyalty and retention. Designed a tiered loyalty programme achieving 90% retention against a 75–80% benchmark, 92%+ push notification opt-in and monthly recovery of 15% of churned partners.
  • Acquisition efficiency. Managed a £500K+ acquisition budget at 3.5×+ return on advertising spend.

Platforms / Discovery / Experimentation / Data

Platform strategy, launch & researcher experience

  • 0-to-1 platform launch. Defined the product vision, secured the business case, led discovery across editorial and researcher audiences and launched 3,500 journal homepages. Reached 28% submission conversion and 64% engagement within the first month of go-to-market.

  • Journal quality signals. Developed a quality-signal framework for journals without Impact Factors and negotiated approval with Clarivate, giving researchers another way to evaluate relevant publications.

International growth, analytics & optimisation

  • China performance and localisation. Identified China as 48% of traffic through data analysis. Reduced load time from 4.5 seconds to 2.8 seconds. A localisation A/B test delivered 11% higher engagement and 6% higher conversion.
  • A reusable international framework. Established the geo-targeting approach used for subsequent international features, extending the learning beyond a single market experiment.
  • Proactive decline detection. Identified a silent 6% engagement decline that standard reporting had missed. Introduced Pendo behavioural segmentation and a data governance model that became standard practice across publisher platforms.

Seller ecosystem / Trust / Growth / Assortment

Marketplace quality & seller trust

Complaints fell from 600 to 35 per month, a 94% reduction; NPS increased 10 points and GMV recovered from −10% to positive growth within the quarter.

  • Seller outcomes. The trust initiatives delivered 30% higher sales for badged sellers, 20% higher retention, 28% higher satisfaction and a 12% reduction in fraud complaints.

Assortment & commercial growth

  • A 40-day assortment turnaround. Identified 362 products appearing on competitors' first pages but absent from Paytm. Sourced all 362 from verified vendors in 40 days and exceeded the GMV target by 30%.

04 / Behind the decisions

Stay curious.
Make it count.

I like the space between an ambiguous problem and a product that makes someone’s day easier. My work connects four habits.

01

Listen closely.

Start with the customer, their context and the friction behind the request.

02

Find the signal.

Use behavioural data and commercial insight to understand where the opportunity sits.

03

Make a choice.

Balance customer value, business impact and what the team can deliver well.

04

Learn in the real world.

Launch, experiment, measure and make the next decision with better evidence.

05 / A little more human

Product is my work.
Curiosity is the habit.

I’m a London-based Growth PM with 11+ years of experience building and growing ecommerce products and platforms.

I enjoy making sense of complicated problems, working with people who bring different perspectives and building things that are useful. Outside work, that curiosity takes me into travel, photography, fashion—and products of my own.
